I’ll admit it. I hate running. I’ve never loved long distance running BUT I noticed that all these people who were extra fit and losing weight faster were running! So I wanted in. I also wanted 3o mins away from my kids. (true story)

I’ll give you a bit of background. I was a sprinter in my younger days, I could go fast, but not for long. 100 metres was my thing. But since becoming a coach? I have been doing things that scare me and running was one of them.

I had been talking to one of my coaches, and she gave me the confidence to just do it, just to try, and she said for me to use an app called C25K. So I did. And wouldn’t you know it was snowing in spring the first day I started. In short I was terrified.  I thought I’d look like a fake runner, or worse, i’d fail before I started.

Week one of C25K

It was alternating 60 seconds (an eternity) and 90 seconds of walking, and repeat, and repeat… for 20 minutes. My first run was not pretty. And I hurt soo badly but I did it!  My first run took me 28 minutes, and I ran/walked a 13 minute Mile… Yes Slow. But Done. It hovered between 12-13 minute mile and it was cold and windy, and i had to ice my shins every single time.

But I was so committed to keep going.
